Brodsky Gift to Fund New PMA Center

The Philadelphia Museum of Art has announced it is the recipient of a $20 million gift intended for the development of a new education center. The donation comes from Julian Brodsky, a cofounder of Comcast, and his wife, Lois G. Brodsky. This contribution represents one of the largest single gifts in the history of the institution.

The forthcoming Brodsky Center will be located in the museum's north wing. The new space is expected to occupy more than triple the museum's current 6,000 square feet dedicated to art education. Planned features for the facility include art studios, a family learning center, a visitor orientation area, and a multipurpose community hub.

The project marks the first major capital undertaking for the museum since the completion of the Frank Gehry-designed Core Project in 2021. Philadelphia architecture firm MGA Partners has been contracted to design the expansion.

In addition to the physical construction, the museum intends to increase its staff of full- and part-time educators. The institution currently employs sixteen individuals in educational roles, serving 36,000 students annually.
